1 Month Squeal

Natalie turned one month old on March 11. Already a month has gone by and suddenly my sleepy little baby is now an alert little baby! And she has gotten so long! At our 1 month doctor's visit, Natalie was 10lbs 12oz and 24in long! How in the world did my little baby grow 2 1/2 inches in a month? She's amazing!

We also had quite a few appointments this last month for Natalie. Besides the pediatrician appointment, she had to have a newborn hearing test. This is a routine test performed in hospitals before the baby is discharged. Because we were at a birth center, this test was no performed so we got it done through our pediatrician. The test was easy, short, and Natalie slept through most of it. However, the results weren't what we wanted to hear. Natalie failed the test on her left ear and we were going to have to come back for a diagnostic test. The technician was suspicious about there being fluid in the ear, but wanted to do a full diagnostic in case there were real issues. We schedule a second appointment and brought Natalie in for this longer test to check her ears. This time she passed both ears with flying colors! So we concluded that it had been fluid built up in her ears that has now cleared. Awesome!

Besides that little scare, being a mom has been great. I'm still uncomfortable from the birth, but now I can actually get around and go places. The only problem is that my little baby hates her car seat! Yes, we have one of those babies. You put her in the car seat and it's instant crying. I try to plan all of my outtings while she is napping because that is the only way I can travel. No matter how much I nurse her before or after a trip, she will still scream her head off. I am really looking forward to her growing out of this because we really like to travel!

Next up on our agenda is a visit from the other side of the family. My parents were here for a week and now it is time for my mother-in-law and 10-year-old sister-in-law to visit from Colorado. We are really excited to introduce Natalie to her other grandma and get to know that side of the family!
